North Gujarat Agro Producer Company Ltd. (NGAPCL)
 

To support North Gujarat farmers in term of marketing, good quality agro input supply and planting materials, SOFILWM initiated and formed a farmer’s Producers Company named North Gujarat Agro Producer Company Ltd. (NGAPCL) in 2007. In the year 2009 SOFILWM got a SGP of Rs. 4.97 Lakh from Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT), Mumbai for the support of NGAPCL, including expansion of its constituency and to develop forward and backward linkages.

The company is currently working in three districts of Banaskantha, Mehsana and Patan and is undertaking various activities for formers support like, door-to-door supply of fertilizers, good quality seeds, horticultural plant saplings, pesticides, agriculture implements and different types of plastic mulches and net house materials by making common interest groups at the village level. The turnover of company has reached to Rs. 70 lakh. The company has also providing marketing support to papaya growers and by this initiative farmers got 40% higher rate compare to previous year.

Objectives

  • To explore backward and forward linkages and establish partnership with appropriate agencies and institutions for establishing this linkages.

  • To take up activities for promotion of high value orchard crop and efficient irrigation devices.

  • To develop business models for successful models for marketing large-scale production of fruits and vegetables.

  • To explore new areas of value chain additions, especially for fast perishable fruits and vegetables.

  • To coordinate research studies (Minimum 2) related to traditional v/s high valued crops.

  • To explore fare trade markets, and develop strong linkages.
